Cookie overview
A cookie is a small text file that a website can place on your device to remember something between visits — the fact that you are logged in, the last page you viewed, the language you prefer. Cookies are a normal part of how the web works, and the 4Racing website uses them for a small number of specific purposes.
This page explains which cookies we set, the categories they fall into, and how you can control which of them run in your browser.
Necessary versus optional cookies
We divide the cookies on the site into two broad groups.
Necessary cookies
These are required to make the site work. They keep you signed in when you log in to a dashboard, hold your place through a multi-step flow, and carry small pieces of state — such as whether you have dismissed a notice, or chosen a language — between pages. Necessary cookies do not track you across other websites, and you cannot turn them off without breaking parts of the site. They include the standard WordPress cookies (such as the login session cookie and the settings cookie), and any equivalent cookies set by our content-delivery and security infrastructure.
Optional cookies
These are cookies that are not required to make the site work, but are useful for measuring how the site is used, or for delivering particular marketing or personalisation features. They are set only where you have given consent to them, either through a consent mechanism on the site or through settings in your browser.
Analytics and marketing cookies
Where we use analytics cookies, we use them to understand how visitors move through the site — which pages are popular, which calls to action work, where people drop off. The data is aggregated, and we use it to make the site better. We do not use analytics cookies to identify you personally, and we do not sell analytics data to anyone.
We currently use a minimal set of marketing cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and — where the law requires it — ask for your consent before any new cookies are set. Any advertising or remarketing cookies will always be opt-in.
Some embedded content on the site — for example video streams from our betting partner, social-media posts, or maps — may set cookies of its own when the embed loads. These are third-party cookies, governed by the privacy policy of the embedding platform. The most common third-party embeds on the site are listed in our privacy policy.
Managing your cookie preferences
You can manage cookies in a few ways:
- Through the consent tool on the site (where available). When a consent prompt is shown, you can accept all, reject all (except strictly necessary) or customise your preferences by category. You can change your preferences at any time via the link in the site footer.
- Through your browser. Every modern browser lets you see which cookies have been set, delete them, and block future cookies from specific sites or by category. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all publish support pages that explain the available settings.
- Through your device. Mobile devices let you clear cookies for Safari on iOS or Chrome on Android in their system settings.
- Through privacy signals. Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or a Do Not Track (DNT) signal, we treat it as a signal to disable optional cookies on your visit, where technically possible.
Blocking or clearing necessary cookies will sign you out of any logged-in area and may prevent some parts of the site from working correctly. We recommend keeping necessary cookies enabled even if you choose to opt out of analytics and marketing cookies.
When this policy changes
We will update this page whenever we change the set of cookies used on the site, or whenever the way we seek consent changes. The “last updated” date at the top of the page will always reflect the most recent revision.
